Since joining LPA in 1995, Winston Bao has over 20 years of professional experience and has dedicated his career to focusing on how design can influence experiences and, ultimately, shape quality of life. As an Associate and Certified Interior Designer (CID), he has designed projects that are as diverse as LPA’s clients, from high-performance learning environments for all ages, to corporate headquarters seeking to reinforce a client’s global brand. With career highlights in the education segment, Bao’s ongoing passion has been working with clients to deliver solutions that provide practical value and celebrate their unique culture.

Through an integrated and collaborative design approach, his role as a Design Director of Interiors in the Education Studio is focused on creating tailored solutions that not only deliver engaging learning environments, but also balance the academic experience with physical and emotional well-being to foster lifelong learning. Sample project types include libraries, concert halls, classrooms, labs, workplace, student unions, wellness centers, student recreation centers and athletic facilities. Clients for these projects range from the California Community Colleges and California State Universities, to private institutions.

Being immersed in the field of education, Bao welcomes opportunities to collaborate with and share his experience with students and other leaders in the industry. Since earning his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design at California State University, Long Beach, he continues to mentor young designers to inspire and guide their career paths. This includes lecturing at Speaker Series and critiquing student projects to provide insight and encourage their academic development. His active and professional involvement includes speaking at conferences for organizations such as the National Intramural Recreational Sports Association (NIRSA), The Community College Facilities Coalition (CCFC) and the International Interior Design Association (IIDA).
