The signature Live Oak Hall Academic Center on Northwest Vista College's campus contributes to the formation of the new campus green on the east side of a lake that bisects the campus. As part of the Alamo Colleges, this new three-story, 86,300-square-foot building houses science laboratories, astronomy deck, computer labs, classrooms and faculty offices. Perforated screens and awnings control solar heat gain while allowing views out from the interior spaces. Informal study spaces promote impromptu collaboration among students and faculty. A shaded outdoor space with terraced concrete seating offers opportunities for open-air classes to engage and enjoy the natural landscape on the campus.
