The Ronald Raegan High School in San Antonio is a 359,000-square-foot high school for 2,500 students. Located on an 83-acre, tree-studded site, the school was designed to feel like a mall, where high school students are comfortable in their environment. The natural daylighting-filled circulation spine winds through the buildings, organizes the campus and provides a clear path to the variety of 125 teaching spaces in the three buildings. Fine arts facilities include fully configured stage with 950-seat auditorium, music rehearsal, black box drama theater, art studios and marching field. A double gym, auxiliary gym, dance and cheer studios along with locker rooms for all boys and girls sports make up the facilities in the gymnasium. Field sport practice facilities are provided for football, baseball, soccer, track, golf and tennis. Ronald Reagan High School received the 2000 Caudill Award from the Texas Society of Architects and Texas Association of School Boards/Administrators.
