The University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC), Irvine Company, and LPA came together to provide corporate and higher learning facilities for UCSC’s Silicon Valley campus within the heart of one of the most innovative markets in the country.

The campus had three distinct program requirements. The first function is as a satellite to the main UCSC campus where a post-secondary degree in technology and digital gaming is offered. The second is an extension college that offers evening and weekend classes for people seeking career changes. The third programmatic requirement is a professional open office and meeting rooms separate from student functions.

With the unique perspective of working in the professional and educational design worlds, LPA’s integrated designers focused on the synergies between the two and successfully applied strategies from both. Besidesclassrooms and administrative office space, the program consisted of open andenclosed collaborative spaces, break rooms, green screen video studios andutility spaces.
